Imagination is Boundless Owl Canvas

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a canvas I created using Owl Tales Zuri Mould, Prima waxes and lots of Finnabair metals.  I started out with a tree and vine stencil to create some background texture and covered the canvas (and everything else) with black gesso.  I used Prima's Old Denim and Patina Green wax to create the moody background.  Then I turned all the silver metals to gold or copper to keep them all in warm tones.  As a final touch I added micro beads.  Here's a close up of some of the details.

Well that's it for me today.  Thanks for dropping by and having a peek! Until next time, create something beautiful! Hugs ~ Dawna

Royal Heart of Gold Canvas

Hi Friends, today I'm sharing a canvas I created using IOD moulds and Prima resins.  I first turned the fram backwards and gessoed it with two coats.  Then I covered the frame using 4" wide lace.  I then made the swirls, crown and leaf trim using glue gun glue in the appropriate IOD moulds.  I used the Prima Victoria frame and the heart from the wings and heart resin set. I dusted everything with Mica Gold Paste just using a glove and my finger.  I affixed everything with hot glue and viola, you have yourself a beautiful piece of mixed media art!  Here are a few close ups:

Hope, Love, Joy Scared Heart Canvas

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a canvas I created using Prima's Archival Cast Scared Heart.  I started with a canvas, added IOD Mold 1 and Paperclay to create the background.  I spayed the paperclay with three different colors of Color Bloom Spray, Cotton Candy, Glistening Waves and Lime Wedge.
I love how the heart turned out!  Then I used Metallic Luster, Gold Rush to hit all the high spots with a touch of gold.  I added a cluster of flowers, and used gold foil thickers in script to add the words.  Here's a few more close ups:

Angel Canvas Tutorial

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a canvas I created for my swap partner (RobandTim2) in this months mixed media swap at scrapbook.com.  This is the first time I've worked with paper clay, so I really enjoyed making this!  Lets have a closer look:
To create the frame, I took an 11x14 inch canvas and reversed it.  I used "Creative Paperclay" and Prima  IOD mold No. 1 to make the ornate detail.  Each wet molded piece was laid end to end, securing them to the frame with matte gel.   Shrinkage was patched with extra clay.
To make the wings I used a rolling pen and rolled out paper clay flat and carved out a pair of wings.  I embossed the wings with a rose embossing folder by just pressing it firmly into the wet clay wings.   I used Prima mold Nautical II to add flourishes to the wings    And I used the same mold to add the beaded trim around the dress.
Before gluing anything down, I used some modeling clay and white acrylic paint and stenciled small crosses in the background.  Then I mixed some primary blue and black acrylic paint and splattered paint drops in the background.  Finely, I embellished each corner with 49th and Market Potpourri navy flowers and Prima white flowers.

To finish the project off,  I rubbed Art Deco Gold Rush Metallic Luster paste all over the ornate frame and the beaded trim on the dress.  Attached the wings, bodice and flower work with matte gel medium.  To finish up, I created a complimentary card, wrapped the canvas and added a few goodies.
There you have it friends!  Thanks for dropping by.  If you enjoyed this post, please "follow" this blog, share and/or subscribe!  Unite next time ... Big Hugs ~ Dawna

Parisian Shabby Chic Canvas

Today  I'm sharing a Parisian canvas made with Beauty Board from Renea Bouquet's (Eiffel Tower, Victorian Woman and Cherry Blossom Bits and Pieces).

I used a double stacked canvas to create some depth and interest and outlined the bottom canvas with lace then topped it off with a generous flower cluster.

The top canvas was painted with crackle paste and pink acrylic paint. Added some harlequin diamonds, and Mod Podged with iridescent glitter so it sparkles. That's it for me today.  If you enjoyed this post, please "follow and "Share" this post on your social media.  Thanks for dropping by, until next time!  Hugs ~ Dawna

Keep Your Face Towards the Sun

Hi Friends,  Happy New Year!  Today I'm sharing a mixed media canvas that I had so much fun making.  These Relics and Artifacts Helios take center stage on this canvas and the sentiment is so fitting.  "Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows."

What a wonderful mantra for the New Year.  Thank you Helen Keller, you have inspired generation after generation with your wisdom!  I'm putting a sad year behind me and I look forward to being reminded to keep my face towards the sun.  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugs ~ Dawna
