Just Because Mixed Media Card

Hi Friends, Just dropping by to post this "Just Because...I miss you" card.  I created this for my dear friend Kathy.  She love lilac, it's her favorite color and we were able to get together this week for a long overdue visit.  I just wanted to let her know how much I missed her and she loved it!  I used Tim Holtz "Flourish" stencil with some CWS Light and Fluffy Texture Paste on the background.  The papers are from 49th and Markets Vintage Artistry's Lilac collection.  Thanks for stopping by and having a peek! Your visits are so much appreciated. Hugs ~ Dawna

Three Lovely Slimline Cards

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a few cards created with the new slimline compendium die set from Anna Griffin.  I must admit that I found it challenging to decorate these vertical cards.  It's a much different space to fill.  I think the trick is to design from the bottom upward, rather than try and stay concentric.  At least that's what I learned from doing these three cards.  Lets have a closer look at the others:

Well that's all for this post.  Thanks for dropping by and having a peek! Until next time, scrap happy! ~ Dawna

Hello Friend Card

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a friendship card created with Anna Griffins new Rose 3D die set.  I love that this set has a shadow layer so you can see through the peek-a-boo diamonds.  Thanks for dropping by and having a peek! Until next time, scrap happy! ~ Dawna

Happy Birthday Swivel and Pop Card

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a card that is an engineering marvel to me!  It's a top fold and when you open it, the mechanism inside swivels and lifts the sentiment panes towards you.  It's a fabulous interactive card and new favorite for me! Here's the clever inside:

Sorry the picture doesn't show the wonderful swivel in action, but you can use your imagination! Thanks for dropping by! Until next time, scrap happy!

Spring Memories Journal

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a Spring Memories Journal I created for my friend and swap partner Kelly.  I used Mintay's Beauty in Bloom paper collection for this project. The journal has 24 sewn pages with various pockets. It has 6 pocket pages with journaling tags, 6 paper pad pocket pages and 12 blank pages with a calendar and birthday tags.  Here's a summary picture of what the journal holds:
As you can see it's too chucky to use fully loaded, so I did make it flexible enough with clips and removable pads so it can be pared down to a manageable size.  Let's take a closer look :

Well that's it for this post.  Thank you so much for dropping by and having a peek! I hope you're inspired to create something beautiful today. Until next time, scrap happy! ~ Dawna

"Salvaged" Layout

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a layout of my grandson, Cade and his new (to him) 1977 Chevy Camaro. Last week while Cade was here helping his grandpa with some much needed yard work, my husband happened to mention that the neighbor up the street was willing to part with the Camaro. So they both went and inquired about it and even though it wasn't up for sale, my grandson was so enthusiastic about the car, that our neighbor offered to sell it to him for a fraction of what it was really worth! Our neighbor was so impressed with Cade, that they made a deal on the spot. Turns out my grandson has been admiring this car, parked just up the street from us, for more than 6 years! Every time he came to visit, he and his big brother, Skyler would comment on it. Who knew? Needless to say, Cade couldn't get his money out of the bank fast enough! lol He was just floating on cloud nine the day he picked it up. It needs work, but mechanically it's quite sound. I'm so very happy for my grandson, and it felt so good seeing his dreams come true! These papers are from the Collateral Rust collection by Ciao Bella. Lets have a look at a few of the details:

Well that it for this post.  Thank you so much for dropping by and having a peek. Until next time, scrap happy! ~ Dawna

"Love" Valentine Card

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a Valentine's card that I created for my dear husband.  The background has been dry embossed, the butterflies have been treated with Wink of Stella glitter pen so they sparkle in real life.  The Prima frame has been touched with vintage photo distress ink,  and the love chippie has been wet embossed.  That's all for this post, thanks so much for dropping by and having a peek! ~ Dawna

Valentine Tag and Gatefold Shutter Card with Belly Band

Hi Friends, Today I'm sharing a oversized Valentine Tag and Shutter Card that I created for my friend Peggy G., in a swap we were recently partnered in.  I really loved the way the tag came out, especially the frame.  I sprayed it with Prima Color Bloom Peony spray, then used a white paint pen to highlight all the embossing.  The vintage cherub is from ReneaBoquetes.com and it's just perfect for a Valentines project.  Here's a close up of a few details:

I also made the flowers with Sizzix foam.  It's the first time I've use it and it was a lot of fun!  The flowers come out feeling so real to the touch and the roses on the Shutter Card are especially pretty.  The card is a standard gatefold with belly band, however, when you begin to open it, the "shutters" which conceal the sentiment open up to reveal your message. The dies for the shutter mechanism are from Anna Griffin.   I hope you enjoy this card, it was so fun to make!

That's all for this post.  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day! ~ Dawna
