Brithday Card Swap - February Collection

Hi Friends,

Here is a collection of birthday cards that I created for my friends in our Birthday Card Swap.   We all had so much fun doing our Christmas Card Swap, we decided we are all "happy mail" addicts and wanted to continue the fun throughout the year.  So here's my collection for February:

First up is my card for Bobbi.  She is such a talented lady and I was in a plaque swap with her last year so I happen to know that she loves fairies and the shabby chic style.  I'm just now learning that style and have only done a few things in it so I haven't quite mastered it yet.

Last month my friend LaRee taught us how to make easel cards with this pretty little fairy card.   It was fun and so easy to make I decided to use it as a base for Bobbi's card.

I didn't feel like it needed much to gussy it up a bit so I added a few flowers, stickles (glitter glue), some distressing inks, pearls and a pretty stick pin.  Voila!  There you have it:

Bobbi loved her card, so it appears I'm on the right track to learning shabby chic.  Oh happy day!   LaRee thank you for teaching us this great card style.  I'm sure to use it often!

Next up is my friend Debbie.  She is the hostess at Brat's Latte Cafe where we hang out between swaps to stay in touch.  Debbie is so sweet and exceptionally talented so I knew I had to dig a bit deeper to make her smile.  She loves pinks and whites and the shabby chic style too.

Last but not least is my friend Glenda.  She is a wonderful  artist and I've displayed some of her work on my Art Journal Board on Pinterest.  Glenda also loves pinks, pastels and shabby chic too!  Are you starting to see why I really need to learn this style!  lol

If I Coiuld Freeze The Picture and Make it Last Forever

Morning Friends,

Nothing says winter like snowflakes and icicles!  But here in beautiful Southern California we don't get too much of either,  so a little "make believe" was in order to pull off this winter wonderland.

Missy Loves Bird Watching

To start things off, let me introduce you to my lovely fur baby "Missy."  She is a large Maincoon and just turned 12 years old over Christmas.  She's a momma's girl, but likes to socialize so she'll come out to say hello when company comes by.   Her favorite past time is bird watching.  In the mornings she sits with me at  the desk while I catch up on blogs, make comments and enjoy my coffee.  She's been a godsend this past year as I've finely made the transition to a happy empty nester. After all who could be lonesome with this loveable face following you around every day? 

To create this layout I used: 

~Teresa Collins "Dec. 25th" Cricut Cartridge for the snowflakes, swirls and birds.  
~ Krylon's "Silver Marker" to color the tree and ice cycle ledge.
~"Diamond Dust" to create the snowy ice cycles.

Birthday Card Club - January Creations

Morning Friends,

One of my favorite things is to get 'happy mail."  While this tradition has almost gone by the 'buggy whip' there are still a few of us who really appreciate the time and effort that goes into letting someone know your thinking about them on their special day.  To make sure that something more than bills come in the mail this year, a few of us at sb.com have started a Birthday Card Club.  There are twenty of us signed up to participate which means we'll all be taking turns creating and receiving happy mail throughout the year.  Here's a sampling of what I sent out for January celebrations. 

This card was designed by Linda Bradbury (one of my favorite card designers) and is for my friend Lorna who celebrated her birthday on the 1st of January:
